Sponsorships

Sponsorships can be very rewarding for both your organization and for the sponsor.  For your organization, it eases the burden of the expense of having the calendar produced, but it does require ‘pounding the pavement’ to bring your sponsors on-board and then gathering some information so a proper advertisement can be created.

Some tips to make gathering sponsorships easier:

  • Approach businesses and business owners that have an interest and are supportive of your organization.
  • Consider offering a potential sponsor some ‘freebies’, like a free copy of the calendar and give them a choice of a date within the calendar where they can promote their business.
  • Remind them that these will be seen by not only the people purchasing the calendars, but everyone who visits the businesses and homes where they are displayed.
  • Remind them that their advertisement will be viewed for an entire month!  Compare that to the cost of newspaper advertising for only one day!

Once a sponsor agrees to help, you will need to gather these pieces of information:

  • Do they have a specific month they would like to see their ad?
  • Do they have a logo or business card that can be used to build their advertisement?
  • What information would they like put into their advertisement?
  • Get their mailing address so you can bill them for the sponsorship, or you may collect the fee while you are there.
  • If you are giving them a ‘date’ to fill, find out what they would like for it to say. (I suggest using the date that they opened for business.)
